Vanilla cream rolls

Vanilla cream rolls are a delightful treat, perfect for any occasion. Here’s a simple recipe to make them

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/2 cup milk, lukewarm
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the vanilla cream filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together lukewarm milk, melted butter, and egg.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Vanilla Cream Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 12×18 inches.
    • Spread the prepared vanilla cream filling evenly over the dough, leaving about 1/2 inch border around the edges.
    • Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log.
    • Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  4. Bake the Rolls:
    • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll for rising.
    • Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  5. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
    • Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly in the pan.
  6. Make the Glaze:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  7. Glaze the Rolls:
    • Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.
    • Allow the rolls to cool for a few more minutes before serving.
