Easy and Cheap Cake that Melts in Your Mouth

Vanilla Sponge Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Glaze:

  • If desired, mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar with 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
